Carcass, Carcass, and more Carcass

I had this awful dream that watermelon started growing wild in my backyard. That isn’t the awful part. I was so ecstatic! Jimbob and I ran out and immediately started cutting into one and it had a chicken carcass in it. It was so disgusting looking. We cut into another, and another carcass. They all had chicken carcass in them. I don’t know if this is a sign of my time clock screaming at me or that I really want to get chickens. (Jimbob has promised to build me a chicken coop every year for my birthday.  I sit up late at night looking at chickens from my favorite chicken site. Jimbob calls it my chicken porn.) So anyhow, while looking to see if anyone else has had this dream and just happened to make art about it that I could post on the blog. I found this delicious photo:

http://www.mint.com/blog/saving/recipes-from-leftovers-05192010/

And, while I know I’m supposed to blog about jewelry, making jewelry, fashion, and business, I couldn’t help but share the amazing article that came with it about what to do with your food scraps. (another obsession of mine.)

Chicken carcass necklace anyone?

Jimbob has made jewelry out of the chicken bones I leave on the window sills in our house. (not the actual bones, but cast the bones into silver.) There! I talked about jewelry! . . .

scrappity do!

Tattoo Pigs

Tattooed Pigs!

These lil’ oinkers are so cute! And Fabulous! I don’t have any tatts and neither does Jimbob. (But I do have a hickey on my arm that I gave myself in 1st grade and it is still there.) I just can’t think of anything that I would like to look at for the next 100 yrs.

Whether or not this is considered “humane” or if it affects the bacon is beyond me.

Time for breakfast.

Sleeping with the Enemy

eek! gad!

eewwww! I can’t even look at this picture!

Jimbob found one of these crawling on my shoulder while I was sleeping last night. (On a side note. . .he watches me while I sleep. . .aww.) Eeek Gad!! In my determination to find ear muffs that are comfortable enough to sleep in, my friend sent me this link.

http://animal.discovery.com/tv/a-list/creature-countdowns/myths/myths-02.html

So it’s officially a myth that they will burrow into your ear. But I swear I can feel something crawling around in there.

We find inspiration in the strangest places. We could actually cast one of these and make it into a pendant necklace. Would anyone buy one of these disgusting things? I may wear one just to ward off any other sly bugs with with earily intentions.

American Cheerleader Magazine

The Jr/Sr high schools I attended didn’t offer many sports for girls other than cheerleading. And I had already been kicked off of the boys baseball team for doing dance routines in the outfield.  So, naturally,  I became a cheerleader.  I loved it! I got to wear cute clothes every friday, Look at boys, and Yell! Seriously, what could be better? So you’ve got to know how honored and thrilled I am to be the focus of the on line American Cheerleader Magazine! Really! I wish I had pom poms right now to do a cartwheel over! Check it out!

Leanna Lin’s Wonderland, US Tour and Bye to Our Intern!!

A quick up date!

We have a new store:

Leanna Lin’s Wonderland

5024 Eagle Rock Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90041
It  looks so adorable and Leanna is a spunky chic.
We are bound for New York tomorrow!! We are going to Jimbob’s brotherbob’s wedding in upstate new york. And then Jimbob will stick around to do the gift show without me. . .sad face. While I go to the Dallas and Vegas Shows. We hate doing shows apart, I hate it the most because Jimbob always makes me laugh and it doesn’t matter whether the show is going well or not. But all of our shows happen to be at the exact same time!! So we are crazy people right now shipping, sweating (our work room isn’t insulated or air conditioned. . .sorry if our shipments are a bit musky), embroidering, bickering, singing (we are singing in the wedding) and . . .not eating. “A beer is basically pasta in a bottle. . .si?”  “No! ” Says Jimbob as he threatens to throw the needle nose pliers at my needling nose. “And get off the computer!” . . . he’s hungry. “But I wanna write about Lindsay real quick! I’ll be real quick!”
We lost our lovely intern today. Lindsay. As she heads back to school at Skidmore. She was amazing and we don’t know what we will do without her. I had a purpose, to guide her, a young artist with dreams of owning her own business, and showed her that if I can do it. . . .truly. . .anyone can do it. And that is exactly what she learned. So, the position is open! If anyone reading this. . my spammers, you know who you are. . . wants to see behind the curtain of the most genius jewelry product of the 21st century . . .lemme know!! There is lots to do!!
Gazpacho Here I come!! Again! Maybe I’ll post my recipe. I live off of this stuff!
Happy Day!

Renegade Craft Fair Wrap Up

This weekend was the Renegade Craft Fair in Los Angeles’ Historic Park downtown. I love, love, love the new location! There were corn fields whose stalks were actually as tall as an elephant’s eye! It was a sweet location with. . .wait for it. . . FREE PARKING!!! and TONS of it! And people turned out in the masses! I saw groups of people who took a break from shopping to have picnics under the trees.

There was a coffee vendor whose coffee perked even the snobbyist sumatrarian. To quote Jimbob “it is like if God pee’d Coffee!” We saw lots of return customers. It is so exciting as an artist to have someone show up wearing your jewelry they bought from a store or from your last show and come back for more! People brought friends to get their own necklaces. Plus we had a bunch of new customers. We almost sold out of everything the first day! It was so exciting!

I am always inspired by the craftiness and inventive artistry of the Renegade exhibitors.

Evolution of the Muff

This guy was our neighbor! His Evolution of the Muff was a huge sensation.  My favorite quote was, “Do you make this in a baby onesie?” AshKahn, himself, was irreverent and hilarious!

Thanks to all who weathered the weather to come out and support local artists and our amazing crafting community.

Our next retail show will be September 26th 2010 with Rebe at the Abbott Kinney Festival.

See you then!

This one goes out to all my spammers!

We are so stinking close to re-energizing this website I can almost feel it! New photos! New pieces! and. . . what do I hear?. . . a contest? The blogs I follow always have some sort of a contest. I have never entered just silently envied the winner and the blogger who actually has followers who want to win something they are giving away. So I am guessing I will have the first ever contest for my huge SPAM following! It’s true! I get loads of spam! And I’m not complaining. It’s actually intriguing. I actually start to believe that they really do like my articles. They are truly interested in what I have to say. It actually hurts me a little to hit that spam button to delete their email. And I (secretly) hope that they will spam me again.  So, all you spammers, keep your eyes open and your mouses, mice, well positioned on their anti slip padding thing for your very own Jenny and Jimbob contest. Details coming very soon. . . .and thanks for being so loyal.

love,

jenny

FOCUS Los Angeles

FOCUS trade show, Downtown LA. We have the coolest booth on the planet.

Back from Denver and Focus Show tomorrow at CMC

phsew!! I am beat after a wonderfully restful trip to Denver. Restful trip includes:

1.Hiking several mile hike up to 10,000 feet.

2.Long walks to target (nearly everyday. . .)

3. Jewelry show with Sister in Law’s fun friends from work.

4.Long ride to Breckenridge.

5.Even Longer gay/lesbian film festival where I was the focus of a very uncomfortably delightful Q&A.

6.Lots of Rain while drinking lots of Wine.

7.Naps under a tree while being pelted by falling unripened mystery fruit.

The day we got back I started shooting this film where I was up until 4am and then had to get up at 7 to make jewelry. So there goes all of the rest and now I’m exhausted again. I keep reminding myself that “this is the life” and one day I’m going to look back at this and laugh. I am laughing now. . .but I think its for an entirely different reason. Now we are getting ready to do Focus tomorrow (Tuesday to Thursday).

Aside from all of the work that still has to get done. I always love doing Focus. I always get into fun new stores and build lasting friendships with the other designers.  Like Amy Kathryn, Rebe, Micha, and Blue Platypus. For the cutest and coolest fashiony things check them out.

Still no pictures. But I atleast thought about it while I was living my life. So I consider that a personal victory.

Now, enough stalling, I must go make displays so I can finally get some sleep.

Yes?
