The article is out!

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to let you all know that the Yoo-n-LA article is out!  It’s super informative and there are lots of pretty pictures, so be sure to check it out here!

Thanks to Amanda Dobek for the article and Leigh Gaston for the pictures :)

Have a fantabulous Thursday and get excited for the sunshiney weekend!

Us N LA

Happy Monday everyone!

Just wanted to let you all know that we will be featured in an article for the magazine Yoo-N-LA, which is a super cool magazine dedicated to showcasing unique talents and individuals in Los Angeles.

The article isn’t out yet, BUT we do have some fabulous photos taken by Leigh Gaston that will be used for it! Here is one of our favorites:

Yay so exciting! BTW, the gorge dress that I am wearing is by a designer in the UK called Tofu. Her work is whimsical, sweet and sassy… just like me!!

Oh ya!! And Jimbob’s skeleton Minnie Mouse shirt is from Seam Ripper By Juan Chavez also made in LA.

Hip hip hooray!

Bored and In Door-ed

Whoo, cold weather- even in LA! Can’t wait for Springtime to finally arrive. In the meantime, we’ve been shacked up inside, browsing some fabulous scrapbooking blogs- which are totally addictive and awesome, not to mention a great way to forget about the icky outside storms.

One scrapbooking site that really stood out is is called Amy Tangerine (super cute blog name, btw, since its owner is named Amy Tan). In addition to being a fab scrapbooker, it appears as though she also runs a tee shirt company of her own. Her work is innovative and adorable, and we just can’t stop browsing her archives and cute pics, etc.!

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know about our most recent fascination. Hold out for some sunshine, sunshines!

Get crafty and help Japan!

Get Crafty and Help Japan!

As you undoubtedly already know, the tragedy that hit Japan on March 11 has had astoundingly awful impacts on the nation and its people. The negative repercussions are depressing, and will continue to be so—but fortunately, there is hope. You can help support this devastated nation, and get creative at the same time.

Common Thread Studio, located in South Pasadena, is supporting their Japanese Fabric Supplier’s quilt drive (Seven Islands Fabric- http://www.sevenislandsfabric.com/), and they are offering various opportunities for you to do so as well. For example, on April 21st from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., the studio is offering half off on their sewing class prices. They also offer free open studio time on certain dates, as well as a sewing social this upcoming Friday (!!).

You can also donate: if you already know how to sew, you may submit a 12.5″X12.5″ square by April 21st. You may also donate a new or gently used quilt to the store. Even a monetary donation helps (even you out-of-towners can help this way)! Check out their website (linked above) for more info.

We think this is a great opportunity for you to get some good karma and creativity points. We sell a lot of stuff in Japan, so just think- your contribution could be helping someone who has the very same Jenny and Jimbob necklace as you do! :)

Truck it Fest!

We will be selling our necklaces at Truck It Fest this Sunday March 6, 2011 at Union Station in Downtown LA! 11am – 5pm.  It’s a super cool event with 40 of the Best Food Trucks, 200 artists and Bands! Plus if you use mass transit to get there and show your receipt you get $1 off the $5 admission! I will be sharing a showcase booth with Rebe and her deliciously whimsical dresses, coats, bags and more! 98.7 will be broadcasting and the LA Kings are giving away free stuff. Plus I heard there is an open bar, a VIP lounge. . .wow. . .they are pulling out all of the stops on this one.

For some reason I can’t get the poster to show on my blog. . .! The website is www.truckitfest.com. You can find out all about it there. . . ergggh!

Anyhow, Go!! And come find me! I was going to be outside by the food trucks but I begged to be inside in case it rains. Plus I don’t want people dripping their grilled cheese all over my matchboxes! Ha! I ate grilled cheese last night and it was Amazing!!

Happy Day!!

Moldy Bags

We just got back from Vegas! pshew! Seriously! I was beat before I ever got there. And Jimbob developed a new addiction to Roulette. He won 50 bucks and insisted on keeping it in chips so he could twirl them in his fingers like a high roller. He would pull them out of his pocket when he wanted to prove a point or feel like a man. . .sheesh.

But I love doing our Vegas show. It’s so fun to hang out with other designers and see all of the cool things people are doing!

Like This. . . .

This is the coolest product I have ever seen!! I met Sherwood Forlee he gave me one of these to take home. . .It’s a bag printed to look like it’s moldy so that people won’t eat your lunch! Now I just need a solution to keep people from drinking my beer and I will be all set.

Anti Theft Lunch Bag

There seemed to be a big wood thing going on at the shows. There was wood jewelry, watches, and these:

Wooden Sunglasses from I Want Proof

Wooden Sunglasses! They come in a bunch of different types of wood. Jimbob was obsessed with them so I surprised him with a pair. The owners of I Want Proof are so cute too! They are all brothers from Idaho! Even Jimbob thought they were cute!

Anyhow, there is so much more to write but I have to go make tomato soup and grilled cheese for a friend who is coming over to give me advice on our backyard. . .eeek!

Happy Day!

Jenny

POOL TRADE SHOW Las Vegas

Day one at Pool Trade Show. Let’s make it a big one. Free food vouchers.

Jenny and Jimbob at Yoo-N-La Magazine Party

Tomorrow night we are going to the Yoo-N-La Party at some cool downtown bar, 7 Bar Lounge or something. It should be pretty fun to meet other designers, journalists and other artsy peeps. We were just interviewed for an article in their next print issue. We will keep you posted!

Jenny and Jimbob Contest Idea

Imagine if Jenny and Jimbob releases a photo of a brand new charm and its up to you to design and cover, including coming up with a catchy phrase. Wouldn’t that be awesome? Then, you post the image on our site and on facebook and whoever gets the most “likes” in the contest gets their design and saying made into a real Jenny and Jimbob Matchbox Necklace. Wait, there is more! We sell 100 of those items on our website and the winning designer gets a percentage of the sales. How awesome is that? AWESOME!!! Stay tuned.
